Dr. Shay O'Mara, MD, MBA, FACS

M. Shay O’Mara, was born and raised on a farm in Iowa. He attended the University of Iowa, where he received a B.A. in English literature and biology. He went on to finish his M.D. at the University of Iowa, College of Medicine. From there he completed his residency in General Surgery in Pittsburgh at the Western Pennsylvania Hospital/Temple University. He completed fellowships in Trauma/Critical Care at the University of California, Davis Medical Center, and Burns at Shriners Hospital for Children, Northern California. Subsequently, he obtained an M.B.A. from Auburn University. He is now at Grant Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio, as the Section Chair and Medical Director of Trauma and Acute Care Surgery. An assistant clinical professor of surgery at the Ohio University, Heritage College of Medicine, he likes to spend his Ohio days in the backyard with his wife and his daughter.
